ADAUGEO™ DOCUMENT ASSEMBLY
FOR MICROSOFT WORD™

(now available for Office 365)

PERSONAL INJURY LITIGATION

For British Columbia clients only, we offer a semi-custom document automation package ("merge") for personal injury litigation.

Six file types are supported:

  • personal Injury - MVA - plaintiff
  • personal Injury - non-MVA - plaintiff
  • personal Injury - MVA - ICBC defence
  • personal injury - occupier's liability defence (representing insurer)
  • general litigation - plaintiff
  • general litigation - defence

The general litigation modules are available for personal injury clients who practice in other areas of litigation. Our strength lies in the features and methods we have developed for personal injury litigation over the years. While we do not market the product as general litigation solution, we are pleased to accommodate personal injury firms wishing to use it for that purpose.

We do not sell precedents. Rather, we use our proprietary document assembly engine and its built-in document programming language to develop the client's precedents.

The document assembly software is licensed as a subscription falling under your subscription fee for Adaugeo Pro™ which is a prerequisite for the document assembly system. If your reason for licensing Adaugeo Pro™ is to use the litigation document assembly tools, we can reduce cost for that suite by excluding optional components and minimizing the amount of customization we do during the initial setup phase.

For the first year only, an all-inclusive initial setup fee applies which includes services to:

  • assist with you with organizing your precedents and, where desirable, optimizing the language for document assembly
  • program ("code") your precedents for document assembly (and that includes all Word document precedents and most PDF precedents)
  • end user training for small firms, or trainer training for larger firms
  • training for your system administrator as to how to make simple text edits to your precedents (exclusive of document coding training)

For ongoing precedent maintenance, document coding training is available separately and delivered for a flat fee which ranges depending on the skill level of the student. Alternatively, we will maintain your precedents for you at a special hourly rate which is approximately half of our regular rate.

SPECIAL FEATURES WORTHY OF NOTE

We designed our system to give you as much mileage from the raw data as possible. If you enter some information for document assembly, you ought to be able to use it for other purposes.

  • Outlook Task Integrations

If your the firm has licensed the Adaugeo tools for Outlook Tasks, those tools can be integrated with the document assembly engine:

    • Automatic "Quick Tasks"

Any precedent can trigger a Quick Task and where so, the task is added to Outlook during document assembly.

For example, if you assemble a letter requesting a medical report, that letter can be coded to trigger a 60-day reminder task for the follow up.

    • Task Worksheet Assembly (e.g. trial filing deadlines)

If you opt to code your task worksheets for document assembly, you can save the user some steps.

Client-matter information and trial date can be merged from the data source. Further, the task worksheets can be pre-calculated with document coding statements. The result is when assembly is finished, the worksheet is ready for the user push a button to add the tasks to Outlook.

  • Assembly - Letters vs. Emails

To remain flexible as the practice shifts to greater use of email with fewer and fewer letters, we have upgraded our system so that every letter precedent can be assembled either as a letter or as an email.

  • Independent Email Builder

As noted, our assembly engine supports merging into email, but one need not assemble a precedent to create an email.

Our Email Builder stands apart from the document assembly engine. With it, you can create original emails with names, email addresses and subject line particulars (e.g. claim number and accident date) all populated from the same data source that is used to assemble documents.

Further, if using the Adaugeo document filing system, you can quickly and easily append client documents to those emails and convert the Word document attachments to PDF on-the-fly.

  • Automatic Saving of Sent Emails

For small firms using the Adaugeo Email Management tools, emails created from the document assembly system or Email Builder are automatically saved to the client-matter as they are sent.

  • Data Viewer / Portable Data

Data entered for document assembly can be viewed at the push of a button using our Data Viewer tool.

The Data Viewer also acts as a "data inserter. That is handy when doing original drafting. If for example, when drafting you require the plaintiff's date of birth, you can look it up via the Data Viewer and double-click to insert into the active document

ADAUGEO™ CONVEYANCING

After a two-decade run, our residential conveyancing package has now been discontinued.

It took a while to convince our clients that the benefits offered by the on-line conveyancing packages outweigh the detriment of not being able to use one's own precedents. Once all of our clients came on board with that idea, we discontinued our package.

When asked for a recommendation for an on-line solution, we recommend Econveyance™.

We continue to offer products and services related to conveyancing, notably:

  • Import Downloaded Conveyancing Documents

The import macro is available for small firms using the Adaugeo document filing system.

It automates the process of unzipping the zip file downloaded from the conveyancing application and moving those documents into the client-matter folder.

Alternatively for firms using Adaugeo Pro™ with iManage™ or Worldox™, we can use our event handlers to ensure that downloaded documents get saved to the document manager, if that is the firm policy.

  • Document Cleanup and Branding

Often some post-assembly cleanup is desirable for downloaded documents to apply firm standard fonts and layouts. We offer custom programming services for that purposes.

A common requirement is to assemble the firm letterhead to letters and faxes as the documents are imported. That allows firms to maintain the letterhead in-house only and avoid the need to contact the conveyancing system provider every time the letterhead changes (which can be relatively often if the letterhead contains lawyer names).

For firms using Adaugeo Pro™ we offer services to add styles to generated letters to make those letters compatible with our tools for printing, stamps, graphical signatures, and the "create envelope or label from letter" macro.
